Boot care saves your boots

Boot care requires tha you break in your new boots properly. This can be done by wearing them for short walks and then gradually increasing the distance you walk.. Never take your new boots on a long trip no matter how much you are temped to do so. You will usually end up sorry that you did. Make sure that the sock has a good amount of stretch and elasticity.Even when you get a good wool sock, you will notice that they are not 100% wool there is always a certain amount of synthetic in them.To make the sock fit better, make sure the sock fits tight and doesn’t slip, you don’t want a visit from blister boy. This usually means no cotton socks or tube socks.

If possible try to use a wicking fabric sock or use a liner that performs this function.

Caring for you Boot Caring for your boots means keeping you boots clean. Dirt is always bad for the leather. It clogs the leather and keeps the boot from drying the way it should.

Waterproof your boots. Use good boot care products to help your boots last. Doing this should make your boots last a long time and provide you with excellent service. I used to use a product called pecard waterproofing. It always worked very well and I just felt comfortable with it. A small family owned company in Green Bay makes it and they sell to many shoe stores etc.. Don’t forget to also condition your boots to help prevent the leather from drying out and creaking.

Keep your boots away from heat.

Never, Never, put your boots next to heat!! It drys out the leather and any glue that was used in the construction of the boot is usually sensitive to heat. An old timer once told me to instead stuff your boots with newpaper and let them stand for awhile. You may have to change the paper several times as I found that the paper gets wet as it absorbs the moister.

Remember, Boot care is important, take good care of your boots and they will take good care of you.
