Camping-Hiking Boots
WHERE THE RUBBER HITS THE ROAD
Wearing the right camping/hiking boots is very important for your camping and hiking enjoyment.
Fitting your camping/hiking boots.
it is imperative that you get the right length boot. You don’t want to slip
around in your that will cause you a visit from blister boy. Also remember
that there are two ways of sizing a boot or shoe I know this because my father
used to work in a shoe/boot factory. There is the length which runs from the heel to the
toe. Than there is the width which is done by checking at the ball of the foot to get a feel for size. Always leave room at the front of the boot maybe about ½ an inch. Some people
use their finger at the back of the boot to help fit the boot size. It is their way of allowing for room up front.
Boot checking points At the ball of your boot is it snug but not overly tight? If you feel rubbing or hot spots when you walk, that will usually only get worse and cause a visit from blister boy.
Tips to Remember Correct lacing of your boot will help reduce friction and keep blister boy away. When camping or hiking, you may have to adjust your boot laces to keep your boot snug on your foot.
I know there are blister reducing products that claim to help your feet.
One such product was called blister ban. It was supposed to reduce
friction and reduce blisters. I tried it, it didn’t work. There was a blister
kit put out by spenco that didn’ t seem to work to badly. I know we sold
a lot of it and no complaints. Some people use second skin and put it on before they go out.
