Camping Tents
TIPS WHEN CHOOSING YOUR TENT
Camping tents will be your shelter away from home. When looking at a camping tent, try to look at it as thought it is your home away from home.Because, that is what it is. When you bought or built your home, you looked for certain things.Such as does it have windows, doors, air conditioning, heating etc. etc. I think you get my point.
Before you start to look for a Camping tent, you should decide: How often will I use my tent? Where will I use my tent?(woods, beach, rought terrain) How many people will use my camping tent at one time? What is the price range for my tent going to be? ( Keep this in mind, cheapest is not always the best way to go) Do I want screens, a floor
Don't laugh, when I was in the service, we used 2 person pup tents.
No floors, windows, and very small. If you turned at night and touched
the wall of the tent, it would cause a leak. You hoped that the trench you
dug around your tent was big enough to hold the water. Only to have
a down pour and have the trench over flow ( no floor remember). (No this was not in the civil war) very funny ha! ha! You may want to check out

You should also give thought to the size you need based on the number ofpeople that will be using it. Remember, you don’t want to get an overlylarge tent—“even if it is your home away from home” The reason----you will need to get it to your camp site and some of those tents can getpretty heavy. you don't want to get mover just to get your tent to your campsite.:):) (just kidding)
If you are a backpacker, you defiantly want to consider size.If you don’t, consider advil for your back. :-) (just kidding) Ease of assembly is a factor. When we had our camping distributorship, one of themanufactures came out with a tent that to set it up, all you had to do was toss it in theair. It would snap open and be ready to go. Not as easy to get put together however. By the way, Don't forget your guyline tightner. This littler device helps to tighten tentlines. This is a handy little item.
Set a budget for purchasing your tent
There are so many styles and colors etc. etc. Take into account the number of times you
will use your tent. How many people will uses it. Don’t go over board on size unless you need
the amount of space. Remember, you will need to take it to your site. Don’t just look at price
when shopping for your tent, take into account value. Is it a good value for you buck?
Are you a year around camper? Do you camp in summer and winter or just one? Do you backpack also?Packing a heavy tent can be a chore.
Amenities I know its gets hot inside the tents in summer but come on a portable airconditioner. Do you want windows, a floor, how much sq. footage. All these are items to consider. Did you ever help a friend get his tent out to use ( or maybe it was you I hope not) only to find mold and a musty smell that makes you sick.If so,check out

If your waterproofing is wearing off, you can replace it by using items like techtron,Nikewax put out by W>L> Gore and Assoc.

products such as
aqual seal
and sean sealer these are put out by mcnutt co. and aqual seal.
While I am thinking of it, don't forget your ground sheet or tarp
to keep the floor of your tent from dampness or the put the trap over the tent in a heavy rain.
Here are some pros and cons on awning style rain flys vs. full
coverage rain flys.
The awning style gives good ventilation however is not real waterproof
The full coverage rainfly:
Good ventilation, good protection, good in various conditions,
vestibule available, (storage area) inside tent to keep things dry.
Poor ventiliation compared to awning style.
P.S. Some of the newer tents have pet areas. This means that you can take woof woof along and have a place for him/her.
